Our
Story:
WHY
WE
EXIST
The Fayette County Military Suicide Prevention Coalition (FCMSPC) was founded out of a deep and pressing need—one that couldn’t be ignored any longer. As community leaders, volunteers, mental health professionals, veterans, families, advocates, and service providers, we witnessed too many of our brothers and sisters in arms falling through the cracks. The silence surrounding mental health. The stigma. The isolation.
The loss.
We recognized a gap—right here in our own community.
And so, we came together.
Not just to raise awareness, but to take action. Not just to talk about the issue, but to walk alongside those who’ve worn the uniform—and those still battling unseen wounds.
FCMSPC is a volunteer-led, community-driven, 501(c)3 nonprofit with a singular mission: to prevent suicide among military service members, veterans, and their families in Fayette County and beyond. We do this through trauma-informed training, outreach, advocacy, peer connection, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring no one who served ever feels invisible in their time of need.
Our coalition reflects the strength of those we serve—resilient, resourceful, and rooted in purpose. Whether it’s hosting a boots-on-the-ground memorial display, offering life-saving suicide prevention training, or creating spaces for resources, wellness, healing and connection, every effort is grounded in hope.
Because for us, suicide prevention isn’t just a goal—it’s a promise.
A promise to those who served. A promise to those we’ve lost.
And a promise to never stop fighting for those still with us.
